Description:
A group of students at the Woodlands who take a pesonal interest in the environment, and in social issues plaguing our society.
Big Issue:
Recycling, energy waste, and littering.
Overall Goal:
To help preserve our environment and its resources by doing everything that we can.
Is your goal SMART?
Yes. We have ensured that all our goals are within reach, and we have begun to employ the steps necessary to achieve them.
Big Ideas:
We wish to organize a fashion show using only eco-friendly materials and products. This encompasses a rather large group of students and staff in both the drama department and fashion classes. The students who are interested in watching the fashion show or submitting products will inevitably learn about our cause and may be spurred into doing their own research.
Small Ideas:
We hope to establish a weekly recycling routine and to stop wasting energy in rooms that are not being used.
Beneficiaries and Participation:
The beneficiaries are those who are paying the energy bills (for they will be reduced), and anyone who would like to participate in any of the events we have planned.
Barriers or Obstacles:
Our main barrier is that some people may not wish to take part in these activities, and will consequently refuse to aid us in our attempts to reach our goals.
Resources:
During the beginning of the year, we plan to fundraise so that our budget will not be limited to what the school provides for us, and we can provide our school with more elaborate and, perhaps, costly events.
Celebrate:
At the end of the year, we will possibly plan a dinner or a party using only locally-provided foods.
Sharing:
We will create a photo journal for the club's activities; furthermore, we will regularly update the club website to incorporate our plans and goals. If possible, we also wish to include some eco-related articles on the school newsletter to raise awareness on our causes.
Bike Rack:
Unfortunately, despite our good intentions and hard work, we might not make a big difference in our community if we only attempt to influence our own school. Therefore, we wish to get the community involved by creating brochures and other means of educating the locals, so that we can raise awareness in our community and not only our school, and we can work together to make our world a better place.
